Laurie Haughey

Laurie retired after 33 years at Clemson University and several years at Milliken & Company’s corporate headquarters. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Operational Communications leading Clemson University's operational communications, collaborating with leaders to drive communication and change management priorities tied to the University's strategic plan. Previously, she directed communications efforts for all components of Clemson’s human resources and payroll functions. As Milliken's Director of Education Services & Marketing, she led multiple product launches of lead-generating Safety and Operational Excellence conferences. These conferences led to the extension of the brand and contributed directly to double-digit growth in consulting clients served by Performance Solutions by Milliken, a consulting business within Milliken & Company’s portfolio of businesses with practitioners working in more than 30 countries around the world.

After starting her career in Clemson’s Athletic Department, Laurie became the University’s Director of Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, marketing executive education, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, Lean and other best practices. To ensure the success of Clemson’s inaugural Leadership Summit for High Potential and Emerging Leaders, Laurie built and was guided by the combined expertise of a consortium of leading S.C. employers to include BMW, GE Energy, Hubbell, Michelin, Wells Fargo, the City of Greenville, BB&T, RBC Insurance and Duke Energy. Named among the Top 50 Women Leaders of South Carolina for 2023 by Women We Admire, along with her service on this board, Laurie serves as Chair of the Advancement Committee for Women For Women, a giving circle within the Community Foundation of Greater Clemson and is Past-President of South Carolina’s chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
